The New Wave of Rosé
It’s widely known that the first wines created were rosé, the making of Champagne in France was instrumental in history of rosé as well. This is because the technique used at the time to make wine–basically just squishing the juice out by hand or by foot–allowed a little red from the skins to enter the juice. Rosé wines are the perfect compliment to a summer's afternoon and evening and has been deemed as summer water. With that in mind, we thought sampling some Rosé on a May summer evening might just do the job! Tastings at 6.30pm & 7.30pm with nibbles prepared by chef, paired for the tasting.
Gin and Tonic was created as an anti-malarial for British troops serving in India, in around 1825. Gin, sugar and citrus was used to mask the bitter flavour of quinine, the only effective malaria preventative. Quinine was dissolved in carbonated water to form tonic water, and the result was Gin and Tonic. Gin was starting to shed it's dismal reputation by then, too, so G&Ts were respectable, and became the quintessential drink of the British Empire. Join us to find out more about Gin's from local suppliers, and Gin's from further afield. Tastings at 6.30pm & 7.30pm with nibbles prepared by chef, paired for the tasting.More Information
